the things i don’t love…

about being without damon this week:

i had to take out the garbage (or at least delegate it to other strangely willing helpers)

i had to [tell someone to] feed the cats

i had to lock down the house at night (before it got completely dark- because that freaks me out)

and then i had to go turn all the lights off, too- dang it.

i had to get out of bed to put away the leftovers from dinner last night (yes, this one i could handle all by myself )

i had to physically remove the cat from my bed last night- and i had to pet her, too.

i had to wake up to my body’s alarm clock instead of damon’s annoying[ly familiar] phone alarm.

i had to drive the girls to Young Women and Activity Days

i had to tuck the children into bed (couldn’t delegate this either)

i had to fill up at least one water bottle- with ice- after i did the tucking in.

i had to re-install the towel racks in the bathroom*

i had to sit in bed with my laptop and {over}eat candy without him by my side (my laptop misses his laptop)

i had to get out of bed [again] and close the bathroom door all by myself.

i almost had to unclog the toilet.  whew, that was a close one.  [i probably just would have taped it shut for the rest of the week instead of trying to use the plunger myself though.]

i had to entertain his dad and sister all by myself when they came for dinner yesterday (strangely, they left even earlier than usual)

i have to laugh at myself.

i have to answer the phone when it rings in the morning.

i have to be extra nice and patient with the children because he isn’t here to balance my sarcasm and impatience.

and i’ll have to drive myself to the airport tomorrow night to pick him up- because i can’t send him to pick himself up.

but i did get the bed all to myself for 3 nights- and that almost makes it worth it.

thanks for all you do for me, babe.  i love you.  [fist bump].

*(just kidding, honey- i’m leaving that for you)

  1. wow, that's rough =). i think i can safely say i won't be making a similar post about things i had to do that normally andy does. glad you have only one more day to go. he's probably just as anxious to get a chatty, loud newly-7-year-old boy off his hands and back to your care.
